Puppy-proof
environment :
A Shih Tzu puppy will put anything in their mouth that they can get a
hold of. Be sure and clear any area that it will have access to of any
potential hazards it might get into such as cords, plants, coins, roach or rat
poisons or traps etc. Please, cover all bases. You do not want a puppy to
swallow a penny or dime or the like, this can mean death. Do not use hard hair
bows in your puppy’s hair. They will pull them out and are subject to swallow
them. If you provide any type of rawhide, be sure it is large and supervise
your pet with it. These can present a
choke or blockage hazard.
DO NOT allow your Shih Tzu puppy/dog access to floors/grounds/yards/parks,
that there is even the possibility of having been treated with poisons,
chemicals, fertilizers, ant killers etc... Toxicants and small puppies or even
dogs do not mix. Products
that are put on carpet (such as deodorizers) or the carpet itself can cause some
Shih Tzu puppies/dogs to react so be aware of that and prepared to act
accordingly. NO dog parks.
That is like bringing your dog into the most ill of dog societies.
Whatever is there can be picked up and brought home. There are
alternative outdoor places to enjoy. Select
yours cautiously. Be sure any grounds your dog has access to is free of any
mushrooms, this is of utmost importance! Digesting poisoned mushrooms will
likely cause
death.
